The Nd9 draws on decades of cartridge engineering expertise to deliver the highest-performing moving magnet cartridge Rega has ever produced. A Boron rod cantilever with Fine Line stylus profile — derived directly from the reference Aphelion 2 moving-coil — combined with a Neodymium N55 magnet and unique generator geometry. Each one meticulously handmade by Rega’s skilled technicians.

Engineering Detail
The Nd range are the first moving magnets to use a Neodymium N55 magnet — the world’s most powerful commercially available magnet. Previously reserved for moving-coil designs, it delivers extra power far beyond standard bar magnet designs, making this unique generator possible.
Connecting the Nd magnet to a solid Boron rod required collaboration with a renowned watchmaker to produce an ultra-fine connecting tube with different diameters at each end. Boron’s exceptional stiffness-to-mass ratio means faster response, less bending, and more accurate motion transmission with lower distortion.
Miniaturised parallel coils wound in-house using 38µm wire with just 1,275 turns. Optimised pole gap for superior linearity and crosstalk. Perfect generator symmetry for highly accurate channel balance. Low inductance and low impedance deliver vastly improved high-frequency response and a far wider soundstage.
Zero-tolerance injection-moulded polyphenylene sulphide (PPS) body — lightweight and highly rigid. Low body mass reduces stress on tonearm bearings and aids free movement, critical for accurate vinyl replay. Design inspired by Rega’s MC cartridge range.
The unique pivot pad design eliminates the mechanical joint between stylus housing and main body, vastly improving tracking stability. When worn or damaged, return to your Rega dealer for a rebuild — new cantilever, stylus, and pivot pad, fully tested, at a reduced trade-in price.
