The Planar 6 RS Edition adopts key engineering features from the Planar 8 whilst retaining the iconic Rega form factor. Factory-fitted with the precision RB880 tonearm and multi-award-winning Nd9 moving magnet cartridge — this is the ultimate Planar 6 package.
Ultra Lightweight Plinth
Rega has pioneered lightweight, rigid plinths for decades. The RS Edition uses the premium Tancast 8 foam core with phenolic resin (HPL) skin, elevated further with a stunning brushed aluminium metal skin and matching edging. The result is an ultra-rigid, ultra-light platform that eliminates resonance without adding unwanted mass.
Double Brace Technology reinforces the plinth precisely between the tonearm mount and main hub bearing, forming a structurally sound "stressed beam" assembly that prevents energy absorption and unwanted resonance.
RB880 Precision Tonearm
Designed with 3D CAD technology and nearly 40 years of tonearm expertise, the RB880 features an aluminium vertical bearing housing with stainless steel sleeve and bearing shaft for maximum rigidity. Intelligent mass redistribution minimises resonance points, while high-precision hand-matched bearings deliver near friction-free movement — extracting more information from your vinyl than ever before. Includes Rega low-capacitance phono cables with high-spec phono plugs.
Nd9 Reference Moving Magnet Cartridge
Each Nd9 is meticulously hand-made by Rega's skilled technicians. It uses an advanced fine-line nude diamond profile bonded to a Boron rod cantilever — with a minor radius of just 3µm — for exceptional detail retrieval. New generator geometry with perfect symmetry ensures highly accurate channel balance. Factory fitted and expertly aligned on the RS Edition.
24V Motor & Neo Mk2 PSU
The 24V low-noise synchronous precision motor is hand-tuned to the Neo Mk2 PSU to minimise vibration and perfectly set speed. Driven via a CNC twin drive machined aluminium pulley and two Rega Reference EBLT belts, speed accuracy and stability are exceptional. The Neo Mk2 PSU adds user-controllable fine speed adjustment (0.01 RPM steps) and electronic speed change for effortless 33/45 RPM switching.
